Wombat Poo (Black Sesame Bliss Balls)
These delicious little bliss balls are contributed by Sesame Lane Marketing Manager Tanya Ricketts, who makes them as a nourishing snack for long hikes. Made with black sesame seeds, walnuts and dates, they are naturally sweet, easy to carry and, best of all, do not require refrigeration. Their cheeky name makes them particularly fun for adventurous little eaters too.
Ingredients
- 1 cup black sesame seeds
- 1 cup walnuts
- 8 fresh dates, pitted
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- A few small chunks of Naked ginger or crystalised ginger
Method
- Place the black sesame seeds, walnuts, dates, honey, cardamom and ginger into a food processor.
- Blend until the ingredients are finely processed and the mixture holds together.
- Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls.
- If desired, roll the finished bliss balls in desiccated coconut.
- Store in an airtight container and pack them for your next picnic, bushwalk or family adventure.
Tanya’s Tip
Naked ginger or crystalised ginger can be found in the baking isle with the dried fruit at the supermarket. After rolling them into balls, press them into square shapes, because, a fun fact is that wombat poo is square!
