I originally come from Bradford, West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, and in July 2012, I took a leap of faith by booking a one-way ticket to Brisbane, Australia—a decision I’ve never regretted. Since then, I’ve been incredibly grateful to call this beautiful country my home, and I’m deeply thankful to Sesame Lane for sponsoring me.

My passion lies in Early Childhood education and supporting children during the crucial 0-5 years. Guided by theoretical knowledge, I am committed to creating unique, innovative services that provide the highest quality of care for children and families. Collaboration with our team, families, and allied health services, along with designing engaging and inspiring environments, remains at the heart of my vision. I am particularly passionate about fostering curiosity in children, aligning with our Curiosity Approach pedagogy, which allows children to take charge of their learning while we support and scaffold their development.

Beyond work, I cherish my time at the gym, walking my beloved Dalmatian, Duke, or traveling to explore new places and cultures, both in Australia and abroad.d!

Karen Rhodes

I truly believe that the first 5 years of life are the most important; that is why I always wanted to focus my career around the early years. Setting the fundamental skills for every child in the first 5 years sets them up to be capable and confident as they move throughout every part of their lives.

Communication and relationships between all parties is the key to working together for the best outcomes for all. I believe this is achieved through open communication and clear expectations from all. The environment that we provide children plays a big part in their learning journey and I believe that each child has the right to a clean, safe and beautiful space to spend their time. By providing these spaces and resources, children feel comfortable in themselves which then allows them to learn and grow at their own pace.

The excitement that you can see in children’s eyes and watching the children grow into the person they are is what keeps my passion alive each day, to know that you have made a positive impact on a child’s life is the most rewarding thing.

Our Kippa Ring Kids Early Learning Centre

Sesame Lane Kippa Ring – Regency Street was fully redeveloped to provide our Kippa Ring families the best that Sesame Lane has to give. We are well known for our three separate purpose-built playgrounds, catering for all ages. Our junior playground caters for younger children with low equipment and lush grass for our yet-to-walk bubs to crawl and explore. Our senior playground includes a decked Amphitheatre, large bike track and forts. Our third playground includes a community garden and the environment has been created to spark spontaneous learning experiences. Ample on-site parking lot makes pick-ups and drop-offs a breeze. Our large industrial on-site kitchen manned by our full-time children’s cook produces freshly cooked meals and snacks for all our Happy Healthy Learners. We pride ourselves on supporting children with food allergies and intolerances.

Meet the Kippa Ring – Regency Street Team

Renee Bruce Educational Leader

I began my career in Early Childhood Education over 20 years ago, starting as a Certificate III educator with a focus on supporting the inclusion of all children. With a deep passion for learning and a strong drive to expand my knowledge of early childhood development, I successfully completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my career, I have embraced a variety of roles, from lunch cover to service manager, each providing me with valuable insights into every aspect of operating a thriving service. Currently, I am in the final stages of completing my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, reflecting my unwavering commitment to both personal and professional growth.

As an Educational Leader, I am passionate about ensuring that every child has equal opportunities to thrive in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. I firmly believe that children are capable, competent learners and that educators play a pivotal role in fostering their natural curiosity and development. My mission is to inspire, guide, and support the practice and pedagogy of our educators here at Sesame Lane Regency Street. Together, we strive to cultivate a culture of excellence in early childhood education, one where children and educators learn, grow, and succeed side by side.

Gillian Brown Nursery Lead Educator, Qualified Baby Massage Trainer

I am the lead educator of Nursery 1. I have worked in the child care profession for 26 years and have worked for Sesame Lane for almost 20 years.

My passion is working with our youngest people, the babies. I love the connections with families and the children. Fostering the children’s learning and development and sharing this journey with their family.

I also love sharing infant massage with our families, assisting families to further build connections with their babies through infant massage.

Kathryn Bartholomew Lead Educator - Toddlers Class

I have been in the industry since 2008 and found my passion to be in the 0-2yr age group. I love building genuine and meaningful connections with the children and their families. I find joy in creating spaces to spark wonder and curiosity in little minds, and watching the children explore these spaces in their own ways.

Outside of work, I spend my days with my little family and seeing extended family when we can, creating memories.
