School Aged Children feel right at home!

Situated in Kippa Ring, School Zone caters for all children attending school from grades 1-6. The specially designed space provides a physically safe yet challenging environment which nurtures and provides security allowing children to grow, learn, explore and socialize.

We develop and expand children’s interests through positive interactions and active guidance. We provide engaging environments that are tailored to school aged children ranging from sports, arts and crafts, technology, cooking, research and investigating the world to education in sustainability.

We are inclusive and value children with diverse family backgrounds, abilities, special needs and religions and believe children are capable and should be acknowledged for their unique identity.  Our Educator’s strive to be positive role models and provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for our children and their families.

We encourage respectful, collaborative relationships and aim to provide support to each child and their family to promote their health and wellbeing through a spirit or warmth and mutual respect.

Service Manager

Wunya Ngylum!

My name is Kelly Chan and I am the Service Manager of Sesame Lane School Zone. I have upwards of 10 years’ experience in the industry and truly enjoy inspiring learning through play. I currently hold my Diploma in Children’s Services.

As an early childhood educator in the OSHC sector I believe children should be given choices, responsibilities and opportunities to initiate their own learning. This gives the children a sense of belonging and ownership over their learning and the environment.

I aim to provide caring and educational experiences to realise each child’s best potential. In doing so children have the greatest opportunity to grow and develop in a safe, caring and mutually respectful environment.

As an educator I strive to create an environment that celebrates honesty, empathy, positive attitudes and integrity. I encourage regular and honest communication with families and children in my care.

I aim to educate holistically by working as a united team with my educators. When providing a play-based learning program I believe it engages the children and assists the children’s holistic development.

I believe it is important to practice inclusivity and integrate the community into our centre whilst paying respects for others and their cultures. I practice respect for the land which we share with the Gubbi Gubbi people and acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples as the First people of Australia.

I am constantly evaluating our program, staff, children and community needs to seek out areas of improvement. I am committed to consistently update and improve my expertise and practice in the early childhood sector through formal and informal professional developments.

I strive to create happy, healthy lifelong learners for the future.
