Dianne’s Glazed Ham

This is a tried, tested and approved recipe by all the staff and children at Sesame Lane and was provided by our Children’s Cook, Dianne Lyons at North Lakes Joyner Circuit.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Large Ham
  • ½ Cup of Maple Syrup
  • ½ Cup of Honey
  • 2 Tbs Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1.5 Litres Apple Juice

METHOD

Slice off outer rind on ham, leaving behind the layer of fat.  Place the ham onto a large baking tray and score the fat in diagonals or straight…anyway you like

Heat all glaze ingredients in a saucepan until combined.  Taste to check flavours are well balanced and adjust if needed.

Drizzle some glaze over the ham and use a pastry brush to get the glaze into the lines you’ve cut in the fat.  Wrap some foil around the shank end to prevent burning.

Bake for 1.5 hours in a 160°c oven removing from oven every 20 minutes or so and brush with more glaze.  When the ham is baked, slice ham and save all the glaze in the bottom of the roasting pan, then drizzle over the sliced ham.  Enjoy!
