INGREDIENTS

  • 4 apples peeled, cored and diced
  • water
  • 4 tbs custard powder

METHOD

Place apples in a saucepan, pour in cold water until apples are just covered.  (do not put too much water)

Bring to a boil and then let simmer until apples are tender.

Remove immediately and drain – reserving the cooking liquid.

Pour the cooking liquid into a jug to measure about 350ml of water.

Add apples to blender and puree.

In the same saucepan, add the custard powder and whisk in the hot cooking water over a medium/hot heat.  Keep whisking while custard cooks and thickens (a couple of minutes).

Add apple puree and whisk to combine well.

If your custard is lumpy, Use a stick blender until it’s smooth.

Allow to cool before serving to infants.  Serves 8. Not suitable for freezing.
