As a qualified early childhood teacher, I understand the importance of supporting the implementation of high-quality educational programs based upon knowledge and research of child development. I truly feel that we have such a privilege in being a part of a children’s learning journey.

I have worked in the early childhood sector for 25 years in various roles and have worked as a centre manager for the past 17 years. I am a strong advocate for quality care for all children and believe that the early years play an integral part in setting children up for the rest of their lives.

One of the favourite parts of my role in childcare is establishing strong connections with families. These collaborative partnerships based upon trust and open communication are so important in supporting best outcomes for each child. I really believe the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”.

Our North Lakes Kids Early Learning Centre

Sesame Lane North Lakes McLennan Court is conveniently situated adjacent to the North Lakes Health Precinct. Our busy childcare centre is filled with natural light and welcoming décor. Our kitchen is centrally located so families and children can see the workings of the kitchen and join in with cooking experiences. We use a lot of our own produce in the kitchen from our community gardens. 2020 was a record-breaking year for our mandarin tree which yielded more than 200 mandarins! The children loved planting, tending and picking the fruit during our plant to plate program, Owlbert’s Garden Program.

Rebecca Martin Educational Leader (McLennan Court) | Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Cultural Liaison Educator (Sesame Lane)

I’m a proud Gubbi Gubbi woman, embracing and learning my culture is an integral component in my teaching style and collaborative relationships with children and families.

Early childhood is a pivotal developmental time for children, my goal is to ensure all children have the opportunity to participate and develop in a safe and supportive environment, where they are able to be strong and steadfast in their culture and cultural learnings. I pride myself on developing and maintaining strong reciprocal relationships with all children and families. Striving for the best outcomes for children and families.

I have been in the Early Learning Sector for 25 years so have vast experience in the sector.

Letitia Clowry Kindergarten Teacher

Qualification: Diploma qualified studying towards Bachelor of Early Education

I began working in Early Childhood Education in 2006, completing a Diploma in Early Education and Over the years I have worked with many age groups and found fascination and enjoyment in each day watching extraordinary and unique individuals learn, experience their world and discover who they are and how they fit in their communities.

In 2021 found a new passion as a childcare professional in working with the kindergarten children and commenced studying my Bachelor of Early Education to increase my knowledge and skills as an Early Childhood Teacher. A highlight in my day is seeing children believe in themselves by taking risks and developing strategies to regulate and express themselves to others.

Qualification: Diploma in Early Education and Care

I have been working with Sesame Lane since 2017 and have completed my Diploma in Early Education and Care.

I have been lucky enough to have experienced some amazing times over these years with the children I have cared for. Across my career in childcare, I have worked primarily in nursery as that is where my talent lies, and I get to have the opportunity to love every single baby that joins our McLennan Family.

My favourite thing about working in childcare is having the privilege to watch children learn, grow, and achieve new things. Each day is filled with lots of laughter, love and joy and I am so grateful to have such a rewarding job.
