VAKS: Vans And KitchenS

The Breakfast Club Redcliffe

Sesame Lane and Think To Be Foundation gladly donated back to school items for children of families who attend the Redcliffe Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club is supported by VAKS who offer food, drink and contact for the homeless and disadvantaged members of our community.

VAKS is a voluntary network of community organisations and groups who offer sustenance via Vans and Kitchens. VAKS in itself, does not have its own van or kitchen. The VAKS website has been set up to support Vans and Kitchens that are already operating, each of which are autonomous and independent organisations.

Most kitchen services and street vans are operated by volunteers and source the food and beverages through their own support facilities. They provide this either by a nominal charge or for free

The Breakfast Club, run by VAKS, offers free full cooked breakfast and lighter meals including cereal, fruit and toast available as well as tea, coffee, Milo, juice etc for those in our community who are struggling or less fortunate.

Each fortnight there is a representative (Community Engagement Officer) from Centrelink available to answer enquiries and provide assistance (confidentiality maintained).
  • Opportunity to mix and make friends in a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Information and referral to local services and agencies.
  • Free community meals Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6am to 7:30am & Tuesday, Thursday 4pm to 4:30pm
The Breakfast Club is held in the CWA Hall, 189 Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe (next to the courthouse on the seafront). To find out more about the work VAKS does within our community, visit their webite here.
